Mike DelGuidice & Big Shot, and Brian Howe will take the night off from performing with Billy Joel to headline the festival.
The event, Friday, Sept. 6, Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8 is held at Veteran’s Park, adjacent to Norwalk Harbor on Seaview Avenue in Norwalk.
Dozens of bands will play on multiple stages throughout the three-day festival. Entertainment is included in the ticket prices, said Mike Reilly, president of the Norwalk Oyster Festival.
The festival supports the mission "to preserve and share our maritime heritage, to help with the environment of Long Island Sound, and to have children experience our 151-year-old Lighthouse and Light Keepers Cottage," said Reilly.
Performances:
Friday, Sept. 6:
Rock the 60s with Tim Curries Tumblin Dice Band at 6:30 p.m. on the Main Stage.
At 8:30 p.m. celebrate the rock legacy of Santana with Sacred Fire.
Saturday, Sept 7:
In the afternoon, Ripchord, the Official Band of the Connecticut National Guard will play a variety of music from classical and jazz to rock and patriotic tunes.
At 7:30 p.m. Alex Shillo takes the stage with his eclectic brand of rock and country music.
Saturday night’s headliner is Mike DelGuidice and Big Shot tribute band will perform the music of Billy Joel and original music.
Sunday, Sept. 8:
At 1 p.m. the Commanders that will perform music from the Big Band era and beyond on the main stage.
At 2 p.m. Jimmy Kenny and the Pirate Beach Band play on the main stage. There will be singing and dancing to Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney and the Zac Brown Band and other tropical classics.
At 5 p.m. is the grand finale when Brian Howe, former lead singer of Bad Company from 1986-1994, closes out the festival with his "legendary rock" voice, organizers said.
Family events:
The Seaport Circus Spectacular will include national acts from Circus Circus in Las Vegas, and star performers from the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus and others.
This magical show includes several amazing acts like the death-defying performance created by the Dominguez Family.
An acrobatic performance of Nicole Taylor Weiss and Hot Diggity Dog Review are among acts.
Fun, rides, shopping and food:
At Kids Cove there will be face-painting and "pint-sized" carnival games, cotton candy, popcorn, and candied apples. Rides include a 65-foot Ferris wheel.
An Arts and Crafts area will have 100 fine artists and crafters.
A food court will feature Mexican, Columbian, and Italian food, funnel cakes, cotton candy, oysters, New England lobster dinners and fresh lobster rolls.
There will be a craft beer tent with more than 40 beers.
